Stages of Growth & Important Influences: 5-7
As the child grows he gets new form of communication and relations with others. This form is called personal non situational.
It means that communication begins to be not limited by definite situation or object (“here and now”), it begins to be more theoretical and abstract. Adults become not only sources of knowledge but examples in social relations and human activity. From behaviour of close and important adults children learn the norms of social behaviour, about what is good and what is bad. Children begin to wonder and ask questions about human relations and values. A child copies patterns of social behaviour from adults and perceives the life values from adults. That is why it is very important if adults have good patterns and values.
Role game based on plot becomes very important at this period of age. Children play on different plots that model the situations of real life. Most popular are “games in adults”. Taking different roles in games children learn to behave according the situation, they learn to work in team or to cooperate with others and to achieve their purpose. Children try to learn more about what they like to play and it causes more questions to adults and development of interest and curiosity. Playing with others, a child develops his speech as well.
By the end of the period children are able to plan sequence of actions before they do them. |
