As a child my favorite book was Edward and the Pirates written by David McPhail. In the story, the main character was a young boy named Edward. Edward love to read. He read all sorts of books that he would check out on his library card. One day, when he went to the library in search of a new book, he came across a book about pirate treasure. He immediately checked it out. He read it all day until his parents told him he had to go to sleep. Then while he was sleeping a bunch of no good pirates came into his room demanding him Edward to give them the book, but Edward said no because it was checked out on his library card, and that they could check it out when he returned it. Then the pirates got really angry and they were threatening Edward and telling him that if he didn’t give them the book he would have to walk the plank. Then all of a sudden, Edwards parents rushed into the room in shining armor and on horses and knocked the pirates down to the ground. The pirates apologized and then they confessed that they couldn’t even read. So then Edward volunteered to read it to them. From then on Edward and the pirates became great friends.
